Formulation notes
- The erucic acid content is the point. It is what produces the silicone-like slip and shine, and it is why this oil commands its price.
- Erucic acid is restricted in food oils in the US and EU. Those limits apply to food, not cosmetics. Do not carry a food-grade claim on this material and the question does not arise.
- The published SAP range across suppliers is unusually wide — 168 to 200 mg KOH/g. Use your lot COA, not a table.
- Odor is batch-variable. Order a sample from the lot you intend to buy before you commit a fragrance brief around it.
Applications
- Hair serum and leave-in
- Silicone-free shine spray
- Facial oil
- Conditioner
- Scalp treatment
