Bamboo Leaf Extract Powder
- INCI name
- Bambusa Vulgaris Extract
- CAS number
- Not published. We could not confirm a reliable CAS for the bamboo extract itself from any authoritative source. The silica component is CAS 7631-86-9, but publishing that as the CAS for the extract would be wrong and we will not do it.

INCI note
Species matters. Bambusa arundinacea Stem Extract is a different INCI and, in practice, a different product — the arundinacea material sold in this market is a physical exfoliant, not a standardized silica extract. Ours is Bambusa vulgaris leaf, smooth grade.
Standardized to 70% silica, species-declared, and tested amorphous. Not one supplier in the surveyed market sells a spec'd bamboo silica — they sell exfoliant grit and call it extract.

Formulation notes
- Two grades exist and they are not interchangeable. Smooth grade is a functional silica for leave-on and hair. Gritty grade is a physical exfoliant. Ordering the wrong one is the most common mistake with this material.
- Standardization to 70% silica is a spec we hold and publish. Most bamboo powder in this market carries no silica figure at all.
- Dust control on handling. Independent of the amorphous-vs-crystalline question, a fine powder in a mixing room needs local exhaust.
Applications
- Hair care and scalp treatment
- Facial mask
- Body scrub (gritty grade)
- Mattifying powder
- Nail and cuticle
Not classified as hazardous
Expected not classified under 29 CFR 1910.1200. Dust-control measures apply to the powder regardless of classification — see Section 8 of the SDS.
- Transport classification
- Expected not regulated. Confirmed per lot.
- Allergen statement
- No FDA major food allergen. Botanical powder — heavy-metal COA supplied for the Washington HB 1047 1 ppm lead cap.
California Proposition 65
Crystalline silica (airborne particles of respirable size) is Prop 65-listed. Amorphous silica is not. Bamboo-derived silica is generally amorphous — we confirm it in writing on every lot COA and do not ask you to assume. This is the difference between a warning and no warning, and it is the single most important thing on this page.
